The United Methodist Boarding School is a religious boarding school run by the United Methodist Church – and it is widely spread in the United States and European countries. This kind of institution teaches the students to live according to the UMC religion. They will not only be taught from the bible, but also from the other educational books used in other boarding schools. The way of living and teaching will be emphasized on their religion. The UMC as a church traces its origin in Britain in the 18th century with John Wesley as its founder. The group can also be referred to as Protestant Christianity. However, in the US today the UMC has the second largest church next to the Baptist denomination.
The following are the usual activities you can find in most United Methodist Boarding Schools. This is to give you an idea of the religious school if you are a student planning to enrol in a religious campus.
- Like any other religious boarding school, the United Methodist Boarding School also offers complete educational packages which are already proven and tested. The quality of education is also at par with other traditional schools since they are using the new approaches in ensuring quality education such as the student-teacher ratio. In fact, small boarding schools only have 400-500 students but they have 80-100 faculty members. This is meant to ensure that the student to teacher relationship is there during classroom discussions.
- The United Methodist Boarding Schools also study English, humanities, science, history, mathematics and other academic subjects just like traditional schools but they only differ in their approaches.
- Extra-curricular activities such as the student’s involvement in cultural presentations, sports, educational tours, excursions and bible education are all integrated into the system so that the students can develop both academically and emotionally.
